A lifelong dancer, Victoria Kickham studied and performed at the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English. She has taught all ages at studios in and around Boston, including the Jeannette Neill Dance Studio; The Studio: A Dance Center for Adults; and Integrarte Dance Art Movement Center. She has studied with master jazz teachers Jeannette Neill and Lynn Simonson, and incorporates principles of the Simonson Technique—an organic approach to movement that prepares the body to dance in a way that is anatomically intelligent and somatically aware—into her adult and teen classes.
Victoria also works as a writer and editor, and earned her master’s degree in English from Northeastern University.
Madina Agénor is a dancer and dance educator with training in jazz, modern, ballet, hip hop, West African, and Haitian dance. Her dance performance and choreography experience includes Wellesley College Dancers, Brown University’s Fusion Dance Company, New York City-based A.H. Dance Company, Boston-based Mosaic Dance, and Cambridge Dance Company. Madina has studied classic, modern, and contemporary jazz dance styles at Joy of Motion Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center, The Ailey Studios, Jeannette Neill Dance Studio, and the Dance Complex and has taught contemporary jazz dance classes to teens and adults at Brookline Academy of Dance, Integrarte, and Northeast Arts. She completed the Simonson Method of Teacher Training certification program and incorporates somatic awareness, inclusivity, and the joy of movement into all of her classes. When she is not dancing, you can find Madina writing and teaching about health and well-being, taking walks with her dog, or practicing yoga and meditation.
About the Class:
Mixed-Level Contemporary Jazz incorporates principles of the Simonson technique, an anatomically aware approach to movement that focuses on alignment and injury prevention. This jazz-based class includes a thorough warm up and progressions across the floor, followed by a combination inspired by various music styles. The class is designed for experienced dancers—from advanced beginner to intermediate/advanced levels—and fosters an inclusive and supportive environment.
