The Classics
Animated Frescoes
Music: Cesare Pugni - orchestrated and conducted by Kevin Galiè with Anna-Marie Holmes Artistic Director, played by the artists of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra
Choreography: Arthur Saint-Leon & Marius Petipa
Dancers: Morgan Brown Sanborn, Kendra Frank, Louise Hautefueille, Avery Saulnier de Reyes
We chose to open the program with a classical party piece from The Little Humpbacked Horse. Originally premiered in 1864 by the Russian Imperial Ballet (now the Kirov/Marinsky) the full ballet was based on a folk tale by Russian author, Peter Yershov. Marius Petipa restaged the ballet in 1895 and today, this pas de quatre is the only remaining piece typically performed. Northeast Arts has chosen music directed and recorded by Boston locals whose excellence is recognized throughout the ballet world.
Le corsaire pas de deux
Music: Riccardo Drigo
Choreography: Marius Petipa
Dancers: Juliet Brown & Austin Dabney
Northeast Arts remains deeply rooted in ballet history, traditions and technique, so we chose this pas de deux as it is one of the most famous in the entire classical ballet repertoire. This Russian showpiece is an excerpt from Marius Petipa’s 1864 full length ballet.

Excerpt from Erase the Night
Music: Jordan Lehning
Choreography: Nick Mullikin
Dancer: Sarah Pierce, appearing courtesy of Nashville Ballet
An excerpt from Nashville Ballet’s 2025 premiere, this piece explores a woman’s reckoning with addiction. This solo meets her at the beginning of her journey; she must fall further before she can find a way out. Sarah originated the role last year and is excited to revisit it in a new context!
Introspection
Music: Justin Bell
Choreography: Avery Saulnier de Reyes and Kai Iguchi
Dancer: Kai Iguchi
An aptly titled solo about thinking and thoughts - leaving the interpretation to the audience.
IN THIS HEART
Music: Sinead O’Connor
Choreography: Erica Schwartz
Dancer: Mychal Bryan
Erica Schwartz created this solo exploring themes of sadness for Avery. Its simple and clean choreography in combination with the lyric could be interpreted in many ways, for many different kinds of love. After some consideration, intrigue and advice from her wise daughter, choreographer Erica Schwartz agreed to set the piece on a male dancer. Now reimagined for Mychal, the costume remains the same and some movements have been changed, to make it more his piece! The solo finds new ways to evoke thought and perseveres as a favorite in Northeast Arts’ repertoire.
In Between the Notes
Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Pianist: Alexandros Kyriakopoulos
Choreography: Gianni di Marco
Dancers: Juliet Brown, Morgan Brown Sanborn, Kendra Frank, Louise Hautefueille, Avery Saulnier de Reyes
After a successful creation in 2024 between Gino and Aléxandros, we returned to a similar format - five local freelance dancers, beautiful music and joyous choreography. The piano sonata is difficult to play and features three separate movements, although for the purposes of this piece we have chosen not to use the adagio section. The dancers play in and out between the notes, using Gino’s choreography to interact with and enjoy Aléxandros’s playing as he guides them through the work.
